Before she left, the master of the college gave her an alethiometer, which was a device that answered any question the user asked, but it was complicated to use. During the journey, Lyra finds out that Mrs. Coulter was trying to separate children from their daemons. That's when Lyra decides to escape and save the children in captive. Will Lyra succeed?
