The Ersatz Elevator - Written by : Lemony Snicket

Ersatz Elevator

"A Series of Unfortunate Events" books are the story about Baudelaire orphans. Their parents died from a fire in their house, so Baudelaires lived with their new guardians. Their first guardian was Count Olaf. He was not really a good guardian, though. He just wanted Baudelaire fortune, and he follows any place where Baudelaires live in his disguises.
In this story, Baudelaires live in a penthouse. Their new guardians are Esme and Jerome Squalor. Esme is the city's 6Th most important financial adviser and Jerome is her husband. Count Olaf who disguised as Gunther is a boy friend of Esme. He used an ersatz elevator which he made himself on the top floor (where the Baudelaires lived) to hide Quagmires he had captured before. The elevator which Count Olaf made had one mistake, and it was that the ersatz elevator had an "up" button although it was at the top floor. Buadelaires had found this and figured out that there is Quagmires under the elevator and tried to rescue them, but they failed and they were also trapped in the elevator. Because of Sunny (the youngest Baudelaire) 's effort (climbing on elevator walls with her big frond teeth) Baudelairs came out from that elevator, and tried to save Quagmires again, but they failed.
This story is really unfortunate and it is bit sad, but you can feel love between siblings, friendships between Baudelaires and Quagmires, and grown-ups' greed especially related to money. I would recommend this book to read, and it is one of my favorites. I hope you also enjoy this book, too.
