The visions, the numbers, the deaths. How could these all link together? Well, it happens to happen on a young teenage white girl whose name is Jem. What’s so special about Jem you might wonder, Jem was only an ordinary orphan teenager who couldn’t really cooperate with her teachers and classmates except her only friend Spider. Spider was a skinny black gangster, he was the only person who actually cared about Jem, or one can say, he loves her; but Jem never opens her heart to anyone.

There’s a gift in Jem’s eye, she could see everyone’s end, even the ending of a life that had just began; because she knows the date when you’ll find yourself dead. After reading this book, you can’t stop thinking that, what’s your number ?

Numbers by Rachel Ward, this story could really make you want to finish reading a page as fast as you can so that you could then look at the story on the next page. Rachel’s words are like magic hands hidden in the book, while you’re reading; it pulls you in, deeper and deeper. This book makes you feel sad, angry, guilty, and excited as how the characters’ mood changes; it takes you into this performance.
